Kitty Bytes - June 2014

The Monthly Newsletter for Cat Lovers brought to you by:

TheCatSite.com

Welcome to another edition of Kitty Bytes! This month our focus is on a somewhat controversial topic: feeding cats a raw diet. The American Veterinary Medical Association clearly objects to feeding raw meat to cats, so why is it so many of our members feed raw? And what are the practical implications? Even if you've never ventured into our Feeding Raw & Home-Cooked Diets forum, you may find the answers provided in our new articles interesting.

In case you're wondering if TheCatSite.com supports feeding raw or not, do start by reading this blog post: Thoughts About Raw Diets for Cats.

Not interested in feeding raw? No problem! Read on, as we have links to a lot of updates on many topics. The only reason not to read, or not to visit our site, is not having an interest in cats ;)

As usual, let us begin with the fun stuff!

Contest Time!

Picture of the Month: Happiness!

"Happiness is like a cat. If you try to coax it or call it, it will avoid you. It will never come. But if you pay no attention to it and go about your business, you'll find it rubbing up against your legs and jumping into your lap."

For cat lovers, 'cats' and 'happiness' have a beautiful association. With that in mind, this month we are looking for a cat picture which expresses your own association with these words. It can be a peacefully content cat or a "smiling" one. The interpretation is all yours, and once we have the submissions in, our community will vote on the cat picture that best expresses "happiness".

You can submit your picture here, or just take a peek at other members' submissions.. Hurry up though - the last submission day is Wednesday, June 18th.

Now's also the time to share last month's winner of the Cats & Other Animals Photo Contest. Congratulations to our member CatNamedPanda who submitted the winning photo:
