Kitty Bytes - April 2005

"I just gave my cat a bath the other day. He just sat there. Actually, I think he enjoyed it. It wasn't fun for me though. The fur kind of stuck to my tongue."
- Steve Martin -

Now that we are heading into warmer weather, why not plant a nice patch of cat grass right outside your back door? It’s great for a cat’s digestive system, and if you live in an apartment, you can plant it inside in a large planter so your kitty will have it available at all times.

Kitty Bit

Kitty will get bit soon, as flea season is almost upon us.

Want to find out if your cat has fleas? Put on a pair of white knee socks and walk around your home for about an hour. If your cat or your home has fleas, you will see them on your socks. Or place your kitten or cat on a plain sheet of white paper and run a comb through her hair. Shake the comb out over the paper, if you see brown specks, you have fleas. To test if the brown specs are really flea-related, take a drop of water and place it on one spec- if the spot turns red, you need safe flea treatment for your cat. Flea treatment is best purchased from your vet.
